Making Libraries
Takagi Gakuen
We had the library renewal project at Takagi Gakuen Girls' High School, founded in 1908 in Kikuna, Yokohama City in Kanagawa Prefecture. The project was for the female high school students who don't have so much chance to read books. Taking into account that the long distance between library located in the old building and their class rooms, we set up bookshelves on each hallway like street shops in each grade so that the students can regain the reading habit. Those small bookshelves named as "Picnic with Books" will be changed monthly differently from the usual Nippon Decimal Classification. We hope the books like "Oyatsu no Jikan (Oyatsu Time)" and "Meat Lovers" can fit to the current girls students feeling and let them feel the joy of taking a look at books.
